While your character does have a goal (stop bad guys), there aren't any game overs or "good" or "bad" ends. So, feel free to do something stupid! Just don't be surprised if you have trouble sitting afterwards. The game has four stats: //Power//, //Craftiness//, //Charm//, //Heroism//. // Power - How powerful you are at the moment. This measures how effective you are at superhuman physical actions like punching enemies through walls, lifting heavy objects, dodging bullets and the like. Could also be thought of as your current levels of Glow, the name your group has given the force that fuels your powers. // Craftiness - How good you are at coming at problems sideways, misleading targets, delivering precise blows, that sort of thing. Could also be thought of as "mental energy." // Charm - How good you are at getting people to do what you want at the moment. Could also be thought of as "social capital." // Heroism - How heroic you are. As you play, the game will periodically offer you the option to make stat checks. [[Increase craftiness.|s2ep1d1_test]] [[Increase charm.|s2ep1d1_test]]// At this point, Scarlet Moon's Power will now be 0, and either Scarlet Moon's Craftiness or Charm will be 3, depending on the choice the player makes. Alternatively, suppose the game generates a 4, and adds 1, giving a 5. Not high enough! Then, this happens: //Scarlet Moon unleashed a powerful scarlet beam, striking the thief in the face, and sending her flying backwards, skidding across the sidewalk. The old lady stared aghast. She checked the girl's pulse, then grabbed her purse. She started rooting around in it. "What is wrong with you, you stupid girl? You're lucky you didn't kill her!" "But, she stole your--" "Purse snatching is not a killable offense! Come here you reckless brat!" The old lady pulled a heavy wooden hairbrush out of her purse and charged Scarlet Moon. "Wait--Owww! Ahh! Aiiii!" ''Scarlet Moon's Power decreases.'' ''Scarlet Moon's Craftiness increases.''// In this case, Scarlet Moon got in trouble with the old lady she was trying to help. Since she failed the check, the game chose one of her other two core stats (//Craftiness// or //Charm//) at random and increased it by 1. Scarlet Moon's Power is now 0, while her Craftiness is 3. I guess this little adventure is making Scarlet Moon a bit wiser. //Heroism// checks work just like the others, except it //only// increases when the game says so. The player can never choose to increase it, nor will it increase randomly. Furthermore, a stat will never go below 0. There is no upper limit. A core stat check can still be attempted if it's 0, however you need at least one point in //Heroism// to attempt a //Heroism// check. <</linkreplace>> <<linkreplace "Canon">> The first //Scarlet Moon// has a myriad possible paths to move through, some quite different from each other (i.e. the three romances), many indistinguishable. All of those are considered "canon," each one taking place in an alternate universe. This game takes place in a universe where Scarlet Moon didn't hook up with any of the possible love interests from the first game. As fun as the love interests were, they tended to take up a lot of mental real estate, and meant that in practice the game tended to play more linearly than I'd like. I'd rather dedicate that real estate to creating alternate paths through each episode that //everyone// can access, regardless of choices they made an hour ago. <</linkreplace>> <<linkreplace "Character Customizations">> The game provides a wealth of character customization options from gender to bodytype to the clothing you're wearing. These can be freely modified at any time (yes, including gender, however NPC's will not comment on such changes). These will have minimal impact on the story, but may influence the text in small ways. The most obvious of course is which pronouns the game uses to refer to your character. Spanking scenes will typically take your clothing into account, and perhaps even hairlength. Descriptions of other characters may take in your height, etc. Sometimes, the game will automatically set your clothing to something you otherwise don't have access to (like your costume). If you change your clothing when that happens you will //not// be able to change it back. Clothing options are not restricted in any way by gender. If you want your male PC running around in a skirt, that's fine. People aren't going to comment on it though (sissification and related fetishes aren't really a part of the game). She wore a low-cut, skintight, black thong leotard edged with gold. The leotard clung to every soft, voluptuous curve it didn't expose. She wore a flowing black cape, and black and gold thigh boots. A black and gold mask covered her upper face. A hollow gold circle pin nestled just above her exposed cleavage held her cape on. The circle was reminiscent of a total solar eclipse. Her faintly glowing golden eyes turned to Scarlet Moon. Anklyana threw up a green dome around the four. "Any ideas?" Eclipse's eyes glowed, and her gaze swept through the rapidly cooling steam. "Bright, up! Moon, behind!" Bright rocketed up into the air. There was a thump, a yelp, and a gout of flame. Scarlet Moon whirled $her Glow into a staff, and swept it through the steam behind them. Something grabbed it and yanked $herm into the steam cloud. An icy fist swung at Scarlet Moon's head. Scarlet Moon blocked the fist with a forearm, and lashed out with the heel of $her hand. Ice went flying. A knee erupted out of the steam and slammed into Scarlet Moon's gut. Scarlet Moon staggered back a step. Poseidon leapt out of the ice, fists raining down on Scarlet Moon's head. Poseidon cried out in pain, her icy armor flying away with each slash, her hands working desperately to fend off the onslaught. Finally, she caught Scarlet Moon's wrists, and held them fast, her large chest heaving with exertion. But not enough!" Poseidon's ice-encrusted fist lashed out, smashing through Scarlet Moon's shield and striking Scarlet Moon in the face. Scarlet Moon's head snapped back, and $she would have stumbled back, but Poseidon held $herm fast. Poseidon rained down blows on Scarlet Moon, striking the $superheroine's chest, gut, shoulders, head. Scarlet Moon's saber flickered out, and Poseidon grabbed the $girl's wrists and swung $herm over her head, and into the roof. Scarlet Moon groaned, $her head spinning, $her entire body aching. A gout of flame flashed above $herm, and Bright smashed into the roof next to $herm, her wings flickering and fading. Prometheus landed smoothly next to Poseidon, a sadistic grin on her face. "Can't believe we lost to these poseurs last time--" Eclipse slammed into Prometheus from behind, smashing the girl into the ground. Poseidon whirled, only to find herself encased in a thick green bubble. She turned and snarled at Anklyana, who stood nearby, her fists clenched and her body shaking. Poseidon rained icy fists on the bubble. It wavered, but refused to break. Prometheus and Eclipse rolled around on the roof, gouts of flame flying off randomly, fists and knees flying and striking flesh. Scarlet Moon forced $herself to $her feet. $She lashed a scarlet cord to Prometheus' back, and raised $her hand to fling another at Poseidon. "Anklyana! Conk time!" Anklyana dropped her shield right as Scarlet Moon fired $her scarlet cord at Poseidon. Prometheus yelped, looking over distracted for a moment, just long enough for Bright to headbutt her, ram her saber into the woman's gut, then body slam her into the ground. Bright and Prometheus yelped in surprise, and the three crashed to the ground. Poseidon grabbed Bright and threw her at Scarlet Moon, sending the two flying across the roof. Scarlet Moon ducked, and twisted, throwing up shields to deflect the fireballs, zipping from one side of the roof to the other in a desperate attempt to dodge them. Eclipse leapt on Prometheus back and crushed a marble in front of Prometheus' face. A bright white light erupted, dazzling Scarlet Moon for a second. Prometheus shrieked and clutched at her eyes. Eclipse gave the staggering villain three sharp smacks on the rump, then braced her feet against the woman's back, and leapt off, driving the woman into the roof. A green forcefield formed around Bright, giving the girl a chance to recover. Bright glared down at Poseidon, her goggles flashing gold. Golden light glowed around her raised hand, and she unleashed a blazing beam of golden light. The beam struck Poseidon full in the chest, driving him halfway through the roof. She front-flipped, and kicked Poseidon in the chest, followed by a scarlet beam to the face. Poseidon staggered, and fell to the ground. Prometheus landed in a heap next to her.
